Business
In 2008 ING decided to migrate a new credit card portfolio from newly acquired Postbank credit card portfolio within the existing ING Card credit card portfolio and to relaunch the combination under new branding. A large number of cards needed to be replaced and activated, which lead to increased fraud risk during this migration period. A resulting risk assessment by SecondFloor concluded that the activation process needed to be reengineered to ensure security.
Technology
The component developed utilized J2EE, integrated with existing systems
Project
Following our ‘Define, Design, Develop and Deploy’ approach, SecondFloor carried out analysis in order to scope the required software development. Once this scope was agreed, design was carried out producing detailed requirements and architecture. The following development phase included three major deliveries followed by UAT. ING Card was able to use the system in production for migration only 6 months after the definition study.
Support
SecondFloor handed over the developed system to Atos Origin for maintenance after implementation in ING’s environment.
Sources
The change in credit card activation process formed one work stream within the already established Tango card migration program of ING Card.
Solution
To support the new activation process, a software component was developed for additional security checks as part of the migration. This component integrated with the existing systems used by ING Card for their card activation.
